Andy: This is an excellent rum. It has the same familiar taste as the less expensive Appleton, but definitely smoother and more rich. It does have a little harshness to it, unlike a Mount Gay Extra Old, but it has a more powerful flavor. Defintely a great one to try.
Adrian: Appleton Extra has a nice dark richness to it and you can really taste the wood barrells it was aged in. An excellent choice no matter what type of rum drink you are having. Pick some up for your next home Hedonism party!

Oaky delicious. If you don’t like tasting the barrel, you won’t like this. As someone whose first choice is a single malt or a good Bourbon (Woodford Reserve is my favorite budget bourbon), Appleton Estate Extra is a change of pace that still has the complexity of depth I enjoy. It still has that rum sweetness, but it’s not overpowering. Highly recommended.
