Andy: I really like this rum. The predominant flavor is caramel, but it isn’t overpowering. Mixed with Coke Zero it really holds it’s flavor. It has a nice sweetness and really is unique. I would drink this with just a touch of mixer though, any more and you’re missing out on the excellent flavor of this rum. |

Adrian: Plantation Rum has several different rums all coming from different countries. This one has a very different, unique flavor. It’s really nice with just a touch of Coke Zero. It’s a little pricey, but if you’re tired of Pyrat or Mount Gay Extra Old, this is an excellent substitute in the price range. |

Just purchased a bottle (Specs cash price of $17.49 plus tax) and am currently enjoying a nice Plantation Rum & Coke. I needed it after just being rear-ended (and not in a good way) on my way home from work today.
It is very close to Tommie Bahama Golden Sun rum (one of my all time favorites) that has been discontinued. A nice, quality but not too expensive rum that mixes well and gives you a nice even alcohol buzz unlike some cheaper rums (you know what they are and when you drank them).
A solid B to B+ and maybe after another one, A-
Good review bro, well said.

In a blind tasting, this rum could stand up to any premium rum at any price. What a gem. Perfection in a bottle at a great price.

There is no substitute for Pyrate. This is more similar to Mount Gay XO. Very good rum indeed and a great value… for now.

I was very surprised at how good this rum is. I think it matches up to Pyrat very well if not better. At least you know the origins of this rum where with Pyrat the main rum that gets blended could be from Texas as the label states a blend of rum sourced from all over the Caribbean. Patron Tequila, the parent-partner of Pyrat pulls their tequila up from Jalisco to the USA for blending and bottling. Not so authentic but a quality product nonetheless. Plantation Grand Reserve is Barbados rum and it shows. The remark saying that it’s similar to Mount Gay XO or their more aged selections is also very accurate. Even Rhum JH golden rum. This is amazing rum for the price and can easily be sipped with just a splash of water, cola or in the rocks. Very good despite the low tariff. Definitely Eastern Antilles in style and smooth.
