Andy: The Appleton Estate Reserve isn’t bad. It’s actually pretty good, it just doesn’t have the very distinctive Appleton flavor we have all grown to love. When comparing it side by side to the Appleton 12 year, it is smoother but again, has a much milder flavor. I don’t like it as much as the other Appletons, but it’s still a good rum. | |||||||||||||||
Adrian: Appleton Reserve stands out against V/X, it definitely has a different flavor and goes down smoother. If you get the chance, grab a bottle of each and enjoy both for a low-cost rum tasting experience. |

Classic Jamaican rum. While the Appleton products do show differences it’s style of Jamaican rum is something you can’t readily forget. All of their products make amazing mixed drinks. They have plenty of fresh sugar cane and molasses in Jamaica so they have many different options. The person that is in charge of all blends is a lady who knows her craft. This isn’t a small distillery by any means but it has that quality and controls to keep the product consistent with what they put out year after year. I enjoy it and have this along with many rums in my liquor cabinet. Appleton makes some of the best aged rums out there but keep quality in all their products across the board. A no brained if you are having a party and plan on mixing up several different rum based drinks.
